A Reading and Study Skills instructor, Sharon Fletcher has taught, advised, and nurtured students at Howard University’s Center for Academic Reinforcement (CAR) for more than 30 years.  To prepare for such a career, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Bowie State University as well as a Certificate of Advanced Study in Reading from Howard.

During her tenure at Howard, Professor Fletcher has filled many roles.  She has served as the Academic Advisor for Student-Athletes, striving to help them achieve in the classroom as well as on the field or court.  She has coordinated CAR’s Pre-Orientation Program for incoming freshmen and Pre-College Preparation Program for high school students.   She has also taught workshops or collaborated with faculty in a variety of programs, ranging from chemistry to dentistry. 

The mother of three Howard students, Professor Fletcher truly understands the challenges and successes of Howard students.   In this video, she shares strategies for meeting those challenges and achieving those successes.
