Smart Room Online Tutorial

SR01 Teaching in a Smart Room I (online) Prerequisites: None Through online slide shows and simulations, Teaching in a Smart Room I explains how the Smart Room equipment operates. The module will introduce you to the following:

  1. the hardware system components.
  2. the system controls.
  3. the system settings.
  4. smart room locations, contacts, policies, and technical support.
  5. pedagogical resources on teaching with technology.

Protecting your PC Tutorial

PR01 Protecting Your PC (online) Prerequisite: None

Are you exasperated because your PC keeps getting infected with viruses or worms? Are you tired of the network "going down"? This hands-on tutorial will guide you through a few simple steps that will help you protect your PC from viruses and worms that disrupt your work and endanger the University's network. Guided by CETLA's animated assistant, you will learn how to perform the following tasks:

  1. update Windows automatically.
  2. update Symantec's virus signatures automatically.
  3. schedule virus scans.
  4. download Symantec's and McCaffee's virus removal tools.

EL01 Planning an Entrepreneurial Venture (online)
Prerequisite: none

“Planning an Entrepreneurial Venture” (PEV) is an online tutorial designed to help faculty across the curriculum teach students what they need to know to start a business.  Through videos and exercises, faculty will discover tools to show students what kind of people become successful entrepreneurs, what makes an opportunity different from an idea, and what sort of planning is needed to start a successful business.  This tutorial was developed specifically for faculty who are interested in infusing entrepreneurship into their curriculum.  It is designed for all faculty, regardless of their discipline.  Upon successful completion of this tutorial, you will be able to do the following:

  1. define “entrepreneurship.”
  2. recognize opportunities.
  3. define a business concept.
  4. test feasibility.
  5. describe and protect a product or service.

Log into http://blackboard.howard.edu.
